I come from a different perspective because I never doubted this program or its intentions. I have learned to follow my instincts and I am truly happy I didn’t second guess this one because I took my exam 3 weeks after taking the course and I passed ON THE FIRST TRY and I got a 90%!!!! With so many positive reviews of this program I will put it out there that you get out of life what you put into it so don’t approach this program or the wonderful people behind it with negativity and expect to get a positive result🙏🏼you are only as blessed as you allow yourself to be and this program will definitely have you counting those blessings once you pass that exam! It is very apparent that a LOT of hard work and long hours have been dedicated by Mrs Ortega and her team to give you the best opportunity to pass your exam! If you have just enough knowledge of coding to make you overthink the questions on the exam, like me, then you have to trust her and focus on the class. I highly recommend the 3-day boot camp.

  • I started learning with another school that was a year ago and i never got past the 1st chapter. It was basically teach yourself. Then in March of THIS year... read more i saw MCA and watch one video with Mrs. Ortega, and she blew me away. I havent been disappointed the entire course and I am so excited to say i just finshed all of the 350 cases and my exam is a few weeks away. Im doing the mock exam in a couple of days. I work in the denial dept at a multi providers office and when i showed the coding supervisor my books (because i was so proud of them) and told her what i was doing i got very negative comments. She went to a technical school and paid lots of money. Now when i see a denial and i know its out of sequence or the modifier is wrong they totally get mad with me and say you arent certified so dont tell us how to code. I was only trying to help. But i will be certified soon and that is all with Mrs Ortega's help and the passion she puts into this academy. She truly has been touched by God to do this. I cant tell you how happy I am. I got very sick a few years ago and lost everything my home my car my job and my self confidence. Now i will be able to get a job with flexibility and pays enough to get myself back to my normal. Leaving with your parents is not great when you are grown. God bless them and God bless Mrs Ortega and MCA.

I have tried classes with the AAPC and that didn't work. Then I did a class online with Penn Foster. It wasn't teaching me what I needed to know. As single mom I was desperate for change and even having experience in the medical field I wanted and need more. I came across a comment in facebook Group from the AAPC how this lady went to MCA. And she accomplished 3 credentials in 6 months. I was like no way. I read Mrs. Oretega reviews and watched her Youtube videos. All of them. I was like there is not one bad comment. I jump out in faith paid for class pack my bags and got to the next class. Which was Orlando Florida on 04/26/19. Mrs. Oretega is the most passionate teacher I have ever met in my entire life being 33 years old. She is straight to the point and she pushed me. She taught me discipline which is hard to do being a single mother and living everyday life. Words can't express how much I am grateful for the 3 day course. I couldn't have made a better sacrifice for my family and I. I know I will pass my CPC exam. This review is not even enough to express my experience. I pray you choose MCA and keep it moving to success. Thank you so much Mrs. Oretega and I pray God gives you what you gave me and more.

A little about myself, I... read more am a self employed business person and have no experience in the medical coding industry. I knew about the profession and like the idea that you can become a remote coders once you build enough experience. Heard there is a demand for this profession thru friends and websites. I was planning to take an online program or classes at a vocational school on medical coding. I did some research. What I found out worried me. Most of the respondents said that after taking there classes, they still didn’t feel confident about taking the credential exams or were more confused about coding before going to these schools. I even had a friend, who is now a CPC Coder; took him about 5 times to finally pass the exam. I asked my friend what was the challenge and he said it was the time. Could never finish all the questions in time. That’s when I realized I needed to find a school that also teaches test strategies and time management to tackle this exam. I googled “Medical Coding with Test Prep” and Medical Coding Academy shows up as one of the results. That’s when I discovered the You Tube videos Ms. Ortega put on her website regarding all that is wrong with the curriculums of other schools and why so many students were frustrated. That convinced me that Medical Coding Academy was the answer to my prayers. Was able to sign up for the class in my home town of San Diego. (Check out her YouTube Videos) If you do decide to take the CPC 3 Day course, be prepared to do the pre-work and don’t come to the class with some lame excuse you didn’t finish it. She will get on you for not doing it not because she wants it done but you will get lost the minute she starts the lecture. Not only that, you will slow the class down because you will be asking questions like “what do you mean by - “see code 99655, or “- No Units”. That wasn’t in my book - that’s because those were the pre-work notes you had to write in the books before going to the class. You will be doing about 15 to 25 hours (depends on how fast you can highlite and handwrite) of pre-work organizing your 3 books (ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS) with Ms. Ortega’s tabbing system, highlites of key words and hand written pre-notes. WARNING: If you don’t do this, you are just wasting your time and money and won’t learn anything. DO THE PRE-WORK!!! She does not waste time and gets right down to teaching exam techniques that will get you thru the exam and finish all the questions within the 5 hours and 40 min. Along the way, she has teaching moments that will help you once you get a job as a coder. Once you finish her 3 day lecture and decide when you want to take the exam, the Academy gives you more homework in preparation for the exam. Ms. Ortega won’t leave you hanging and recommends you take the exams A.S.A.P. so you don’t forget the techniques she has taught you. So weather you take it 2, 3 or 4 weeks from the day you finished the lectures, she will have a review outline schedule for you. That was just icing on the cake for me :-) BOTTOM LINE: I highly recommend her class - this is from someone who has no experience in the field. I feel confident that I can pass this exam not from memorizing everything but from organizing all the resources in the 3 books in such a way that you can find the resources quickly and not get stuck on a question. Planning to take the CPC exam 4 weeks from now. TRUST what Jedi CodeMaster Ortega teaches you and you too will feel the confidence in tackling the exam. I plan to take her classes in the future for the CIC and COC Good luck and God Bless. Vince M.
