3 Tips for Your Medical Coding Interview

Many medical coding educational institutions only focus on education. Not tips focused on passing the exam. Not landing a medical coding job after you get your certification. Just education!

At Medical Coding Academy, things are a little different. We’re invested in each of our students and want each and every one to succeed both during our instruction and after they start their careers.

In honor of this, here are three tips to help you nail your medical coding interview:

1. Rest Beforehand

First, make sure you get a solid night’s sleep the night before your interview. Or at least try to take a nap or relax. It’s important that you’re at the top of your mental faculties when it’s time for your interview. You need to be responsive, friendly and knowledgeable; plus, people want to see your personality. Don’t skip the sleep!

2. Use Your Research Skills

Next, use the research skills you learn during medical coding and medical billing training. You learn how to do this effectively and efficiently, so put it to work researching your prospective company and interviewer. Try to absorb as much information as possible so you impress your interviewer.

3. Show Off What You Know!

Finally, don’t be scared to show off your medical coding knowledge! At MCA, we like to think our students are leaps and bounds ahead of their counterparts at other institutions. Our students know their stuff and do great in interviews because they’re able to intelligently answer specific questions about medical coding.
