Delissa Ortega, Founder, Teacher

Mrs. Ortega, author of the “GO TO Coder” ® curriculum and tabbing system, discovered her passion in life was to teach the intricacies of the medical coding guidelines after working in the industry as a Medical Coder for over a decade. She is the mastermind and visionary behind the “GO TO Coder” ® direction of the academy. Today she teaches the “GO TO Coder” ® courses all across the globe. Over the past 13 years, she set out to prove that a student can master the coding guidelines upon completing the 3-day courses regardless of their coding experience. Her ability to progress students from 0-60 through energetic intense chapter by chapter training is unmatched. Mrs. Ortega has passed a myriad of golden standard credential board exams through AHIMA® and AAPC®. Having achieved the CCS®, CCS-P®, CCA®, CPC®, COC™, CPMA®, CPC-I®, ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, Mrs. Ortega is one of the most unique and highly sought-after instructors in the industry maintaining the ability to teach both outpatient and inpatient medical coding guidelines.

Belen Ortiz, Operations Director

CPC ®, ICD‐10, RDA

Belen Ortiz leads a multi-functional operations team, playing an integral role in the creation, implementation and delivery of all education courses. Acts as an escalation point for teams, supporting all customers to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. Mrs. Ortiz directs all activities associated with a full agenda of an operating department’s day-to-day production regimen. Mrs. Ortiz oversees and manages necessary operational workflows; meets internal and external needs within the business.

Patricia Mojica, Marketing Director

Patricia Mojica directs the planning, development and implementation of all of the organization’s marketing strategies, communications, and public relations activities, both external and internal. Patricia Mojica manages the editorial direction, design, production and media distributions. Mrs. Mojica oversees campaigns and manages designers, advertisers, and junior marketers while managing ongoing web content and design.

Ladonna Newby, Teacher

CPC®, CPB®, COC®, CRC®, ICD-10

La Donna Newby holds dual MBA’s and 3 AAPC board certifications as a Certified Professional Coder, Certified Outpatient Coder and Certified Professional Biller.  She is knowledgeable in CPT, ICD-9 &10, HCPCS and HCC Coding. Prior to entering the healthcare industry, Mrs. Newby spent 17 years teaching/training as well as administration management.  Her passion for instruction landed her a position with the University of Phoenix where she spent 7 yrs. teaching. Mrs. Newby’s work in healthcare began in Workman’s Compensation.  She quickly grasped an understanding of OIG guidelines and employee’s workplace injury/illness and was sought out by a company to assist in managing Workman’s Comp Claim (DBA) for contractor’s working in Afghanistan.  She spent one year in Afghanistan ensuring contracted employees received required “in Theater” medical care or orchestrated Medical Evacuations for injuries and/or illnesses not manageable “in Theater”.  After returning back to the states, Mrs. Newby landed her a position working as the Director of Operations for a busy Orthopedic Spine Surgeon’s practice.  She manages every aspect of the business, but one of her main focuses is claim management and billing to ensure proper coding and timely filing to maintain all aspects of the revenue cycle ensuring her healthcare provider reimbursement is not compromised. Mrs. Newby’s quest for knowledge continues to grow and she plans on attaining additional certifications (CRC®, CPPM®, and COSC®) by the end of 2018.

Jennifer Soto, Administrative & Lead Teacher Assistant

CPC®, COC®, CRC®, CPMA®, ICD10

Jennifer Soto is the lead Teacher Assistant at Medical Coding Academy. She is a bilingual professional medical coder with over 5 years active experience in the industry. Jennifer currently specializes in general surgery and codes for 10 General Oncologist Surgeons. Jennifer actively abstracts and dissects from the operative notes to apply ICD-10-CM, CPT®, and modifier coding assignment. She has a proven record of accurately coding office and hospital procedures for providers to ensure proper reimbursement. Jennifer Soto has conducted coding and billing training programs for physicians including various specialists. Jennifer also implemented and leads training sessions on current coding guidelines in the medical field. She simultaneously performs quality assurance reviews to assess comprehension of training efforts.
