5 Medical Coding Podcasts You Should Be Listening To

Some of us are visual learners. We need graphics and visual stimulation to remember what we’ve learned. Others are readers, absorbing text and keeping written knowledge memorized. Still others are auditory learners and remember best what they hear. Podcasts are perfect for the latter category and are what we’ll be discussing today.

If you’re in the medical coding industry, here are five of the top podcasts you should be listening to if you want to stay informed:

1. CodeCast

A fairly new podcast hosted by Terry Fletcher, a professional billing consultant, CodeCast is all about “taking the business of medicine to the next level.” If you’re looking for medical billing and coding insights for 2023, this is the podcast you should check out. There’s a new podcast every week, so be sure to subscribe.

2. The Nocturnists

Playing off the fact that medical employees are often awake and working at night, this podcast is great for people who enjoy storytelling. On this podcast, “doctors share stories of joy, sorrow, and self-discovery. Based on the live storytelling event of the same name, and hosted by physician Emily Silverman, this podcast is animated by a deep-seated curiosity about health, illness, and human connection.”

3. Not Elsewhere Classified

Also known as the Medical Coding Geek podcast, the goal for this venture is “promoting the people who make up a medical coder.” You’ll find lots of advice and knowledge that will help you in your professional career as a coder, directly from someone with 15 years experience in the medical coding and billing industry.

4. Urology Coding and Reimbursement

“The Urology Coding and Reimbursement Podcast is for Urologists and urology practice staff: Administrators, APPs, Billers and Coders. We help urologists and staff achieve peak economic and practice efficiency so there is time and energy to focus on patient care and a happy life.”

5. Docs Outside the Box

Lastly, if you’re looking for something unique and not directly related to coding (yet still in the medical industry), this might be the podcast for you. It has a loyal subscriber base and topics feature insights and perspectives from a variety of doctors. It’s truly an outside-the-box podcast.
