How To Improve Your Home Office Life

Medical coding used to be a unique industry in that it had many work-from-home positions. After COVID-19 hit, more than 70 percent of employees worked from home some or part of the time in 2020, according to several studies.

That doesn’t change the fact that there can be complications or frustrations associated with working from your home. Lucky for you, we’re here to help! Here are some ways to improve your home office life.

Get the Right Equipment

It can get complicated in a hurry if you don’t have the right equipment. You’ll find yourself in the bathroom or using the dining room table just to get your stuff done. Invest in a desk, a keyboard, a mouse, a fan, a stress ball, lots of office supplies and anything else you might need to do your job properly. Ask your employer about compensation, as many offer a home office stipend or will help you out. Worst-case scenario, you can just write it off on your taxes, so it’s still a benefit to invest in the office equipment you need.

Have the Right Posture

Make sure your body is right as well. Sit in a way that aligns your spine and make sure everything you need is within arm’s reach for easy access. You want to avoid twisting, bending and turning as much as you can. Try to avoid slouching and keep the computer at eye level, if possible.

Take Regular Breaks

People who work from home complain about not being able to separate themselves from their work, but this is likely because they don’t have the right mindset or deliberately plan breaks. Try to implement 15-minute break periods throughout your day and commit to ending your day at a certain time!
