Medical Coding Lessons Learned From The Pandemic

By now, we can hopefully put COVID-19 in the rear-view mirror. Or, at least life is starting to look a little more normal again.

Now that we can look back, what have we learned? Well, a lot, but for the purposes of this blog, we’re going to stick to the subject of medical coding and billing.

Here are a few of the lessons we’ve learned the past year and a half:

Online Learning > In-Person Learning

If you were one of the unfortunate souls who invested money in attending an educational institution or university to obtain your medical coding education and training, you were in for a rude awakening in 2020. As we saw, many schools and organizations that taught medical coding were left unprepared and many students were left in a lurch as well.

Medical Coding Academy continued operating as normal, albeit without our normal in-person classes. But we had already launched Medical Coding Academy Online, which was giving students the opportunity to get all the education and training they needed in just two months and online! This revolutionary offering is here to stay.

Work From Home Is Preferable

Similarly, we all started working from home once the pandemic hit. And, you know what? Many of us liked it more than going into the office! Well, the thing with medical coding and billing is that this industry already thrives with work-from-home employees. So this is another trend that was already happening with medical coding, yet is here to stay.

Support Is Right Beside You

Finally, we learned that support is closer than we might think. Many medical coding students flocked to Facebook medical coding groups, YouTube channels and other forms of information and support from fellow students.
