Two Ways to Fast-Track Your Medical Coding Career

By Delissa Ortega | Published on August 14, 2019

We live in a day where people demand instant gratification and convenience. We get annoyed if our fast-food order takes longer than five minutes, we are outraged when the Internet goes down for an hour and we don’t know what to do with ourselves when we’re without our phones for an extended period of time.

This extends to the professional world as well.

More and more students are desiring to quickly enter the workforce. The only problem? Traditional universities and colleges and take many months (and even years) to get basic degrees or certifications. Isn’t there a better way? With the medical coding and billing industry, at least, there is. In fact, there are two.

Let’s take a look at a couple ways to fast-track your medical coding career.

1. A Three-Day Course

This is THE quickest way to obtain a medical coding certification and jump-start your career as a professional medical coder or professional medical biller. Instead of spending 18 weeks going once or twice a week to a traditional university class, you spend just one weekend getting all the information you need to pass the exam.

Yes, there is a lot of information in a three-day course and it’s a lot of work. But if you step back and look at things through a wide-angle lens, you’ll see how much time (and frustration) you can save by going this route. Once you’re done with just three days of medical coding and billing lessons, you’ll be ready to take the exam, obtain your certification and start looking for medical coding or billing positions at some of the best companies in the world.

2. An Online Course

What if you don’t have an entire weekend to dedicate to a medical coding course? What if you can’t travel to a location that offers it? An online medical coding course might be your best option. With an online course, you can still fast-track your medical coding career and finish all your medical coding and billing courses in anywhere from two to six months.

The only difference is that you can complete this course on your timetable and in the comfort of your own home. Go at your own pace and complete the course in a way that’s best for you. That might mean re-watching some courses or squeezing in a session at the gym or during lunch. However you want to do it, an online course gives you flexibility like never before.

These are just a couple ways to fast-track your medical coding career. So, what are you waiting for? Get out there and become a professional medical coder or biller!
