3 Burning Career-Related Medical Coding Questions
When it comes to our careers, pay is often one of the most important issues we care about.
It doesn’t vary by industry, either, and medical coding is no exception.
Here are three of the most common questions we hear related to pay, careers and resumes.
1. Does medical coding training help me get hired?
Yes! Medical coding is not one of those industries you can just hop into and hit the ground running without any training or knowledge. There are hundreds and hundreds of codes and coding criteria you need to know about, as well as processes and requirements that may be dependent on your individual healthcare system. The more training and knowledge you have, the more desirable you’ll be to employers.
2. Does my number of certifications help my pay rate?
Yes, the number of certifications you have to your name directly corresponds to your salary potential. It’s not uncommon to double your earning capabilities just by expanding your certifications to two or three. Even one certification helps increase your pay rate over the average person who may be hired for healthcare related work, but without a certification.
3. Does my medical coding knowledge help me get hired?
Yes, the knowledge and wisdom you obtain with the right medical coding and billing training can set you apart from your peers and make your resume stand out from the pack. When employers know you have the diligence, patience and motivation to obtain a medical coding degree, it drastically increases your job prospects.
