I saw an... read more ad in my email address from Medical Coding Academy about the online course. I’ve seen the ad before throughout the years, but this time it looked something I really wanted to do. So I contacted MCA and got my information about the program. I purchased my books (CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM) through Elsevier and I never went through with purchasing the program through MCA. I had doubts about the program, and I didn’t go through with it. So I returned the books and went through another self-paced program. BIG MISTAKE!!! Their program was so long and so boring I wasn’t able to finish it. To top it all off, I couldn’t even afford it so now I’m currently paying off the loan. On November 2020, I got an ad stating that the 2020 online course was on sale for $899. I didn’t have anything to lose, so I purchased the course and it was the best thing I have ever done! The course is put together so well. Mrs. Ortega goes over everything for example what to highlight in the book, how to tab the books, what materials you need to study every day, and online help from teachers if you need it. If you buy this program, DO EXACTLY WHAT SHE SAYS!!! If you do, you will pass your exam. I started the program November 8 and finished December 13 and took my exam December 19 and I passed my CPC exam with a 90%! I would like to thank Mrs. Ortega and the MCA team for the incredible work she has put into this program and for helping me to pass my exam and to start my new career as a medical coder.

I recently took the three day intensive class and all I can say is wow! When I sat for the board certification test I felt sorry for the people there... read more that took their classes at a community college or another online program. There is alot of information to learn in three days, I compare it to learning 6 huge reference books. However Ms. Ortega has a gift to teaching this subject very thoroughly so that you learn it thoroughly. She also teaches on how to take the test so that when you finally taking the test you are very familiar with the format. This woman is gifted and she cares about you and will sit down with you to go over any obstacle that you may have. I plan on advancing to other certifications and will gladly fly to Texas again from North Carolina to be a student of the Medical Coding Academy. It simply does not make sense to spend 6 months in a class elsewhere and still not receive the knowledge and passion from this organization. I am very grateful that I made the decision to attend this 3 day class. I am completely new to this industry and feel validated that I made the correct decision and will gladly do it again. I have been raising kids for the last 19 years and have not been in a learning environment for many, many years so I was not very confident in my abilities to be able to absorb so much information in a short time but decided on day 2 to go ahead and sign up for the exam in 3 weeks because it was all clicking and making sense. Well i'm here to say that its TRUE! she CAN teach you how to do it. And she is excellent at it. She really knows what she is doing and has mastered the skill in teaching everything you will need to know to pass the CPC (and then some). i am extremely greatful i found Ms. Ortega. I passed the CPC exam just 1 month after taking her class. I look forward to taking more classes for more credentials from her. Her style of teaching is like no other. Several months ago I came across Medical Coding Academy while taking a medical billing and coding course. I was looking to further my education with AAPC or AHIMA and searching... read more for a school that would prepare me well for medical coding. I had no idea how well Mrs Ortega and Medical Coding Academy would prepare me. I watched all of her videos and read many student's testimonies. I could not wait to get started and I am even more grateful now that I took this class and even more motivated to continue my education. The way Mrs. Ortega has designed and organized this course is absolutely amazing. I have never had a teacher pour so much of themselves into a course with so much passion, motivation and true concern for her students as Mrs. Ortega. She has a tabbing system and homework to do before the course begins to get you prepared. The classes are three days from 8:00am to after 7:00pm with homework to do after classes totaling about 16 hours of work a day. You will learn much more in this period of time than you can even imagine. It is truly "short term pain for long term gain." I learned much more in three days than I did in many courses I've taken in college. She will give you so many tools, techniques and knowledge to pass the CPC exam (which is a real beast of an exam). If you have ever attempted to take the boards and failed, do not look any further, you will feel confident going in to your exam after taking this course, if you do all the work that Mrs. Ortega gives you and follow all of her instructions. Mrs. Ortega gives more of herself for her students than any teacher I've ever had. She works for you without ever leaving the classroom or taking any breaks. She even works to help her students during break times. During the three days of class, her top priority is each and every one of her students. I have had no experience in the coding field other than one previous course and I feel confident that I passed the CPC exam. There are people with experience who have failed the exam 10, 11, 12 times, and then passed on there first try after taking Mrs. Ortega's class. I am so grateful for this experience and for meeting such a wonderful teacher and person.
