I already have a coding certification but I was lacking the depth concept, listening to Mrs. Ortega explain cases, rationale answers finally a light bulb went off. All these years I’ve been hesitant to obtain my CPC...shame on me! I’m ready to go for CPMA next!! Do NOT waste your money on any other school, MCA is worth the investment!!!

  • I want to take a minute to thank God for putting Mrs. Ortega and her Medical Coding Academy in my path. Before this course I was at a point in... read more my life where I had experienced many difficult moments and I didn't know where I was headed, I felt a bit lost in life. I am a single mother of an amazing 5-year-old boy, my biggest blessing by far. As you may understand I need to provide for my child so one night I was on YouTube and decided to search for Medical coding schools (I've always been interested in the medical field, but I know nursing isn't what I wanted to do, so I was looking for medical coding schools). I was scrolling through the videos reading the titles waiting for one to catch my attention, and I read 'Medical Coding: The Ugly Truth About Vocational Colleges'. I watched the video and immediately became interested in everything Mrs. Ortega had spoken about in her video. I watched every single video on her YouTube page. I knew then and there I had to take her CPC course. I began to look into the course and the dates, Mrs. Ortega wasn't going to be in Indianapolis, In (where I reside) until October 2017. That was way TOO long for me. I knew in my heart that God had guided me to her Academy for a purpose and I couldn't ignore it. I looked at all the other cities she would be in in February 2017, and Miami Florida was the next one. Without doubt in my heart and mind I spoke with my mom (my support system, my biggest fan) and told her I needed to take the course. My mom backed me up me and together we drove 18 hours from Indianapolis, IN to Miami, FL. It was the best decision of my life. It was worth every sacrifice I made to make it to that classroom on Friday morning. I felt the passion she has for what she teaches in every word that she spoke. You can see in her eyes how genuine she is about helping you. I loved every second in that classroom. I will be taking my test in 4 weeks and I feel beyond positive that I will pass it thanks to everything I learned in Mrs. Ortega's course. I will definitely be taking other courses with Mrs. Ortega to keep adding certifications to my name. Thank God for Mrs. Ortega she has truly been a blessing in my life. Let her be a blessing in yours as well.

  • I highly recommend The Medical Coding Academy! I am married, with 3 children and a career, so time is EXTREMELY VALUABLE. Since Medical Coding will be a complete career change... read more for me, I did not want to enroll in a long course to 1) Discover I wouldn't like it. 2) Not get the info I need. Both would waste time and money. I was never skeptical. I considered it a wise investment and I got MORE than I expected! Mrs. Ortega is even more genuine in person than she is in her videos (that was a bonus). It is so obvious that teaching and helping people is her gift and passion! Thank you to Mrs. Ortega and everyone at MCA! ***Tips for success - 1) Do all the pre-work before class (give yourself ample time). 2) If you are traveling, consider staying in a hotel closer. It will be an intense weekend. You'll appreciate the time you save on travel (to rest & study). 3) Prepare to be off line and focused only on the course that weekend (no hanging out, etc). UPDATE 4/13/17- I passed my CPC test on the 1st attempt with an 86%. I have no medical training or experience. I OWE IT ALL to the Medical Coding Academy (and God) and what I was taught in class! No doubt in my mind. I sat next to someone that worked in a hospital, took a 6 month course, and didn't finish the test. That speaks volumes about this course!

The decision to register was difficult due to finances; however, it was one of the... read more BEST decisions I’ve ever made. Mrs. Ortega’s teaching passion was evident from the beginning of the bootcamp until the very end. She was answering questions even as she was leaving to catch her flight. She is an AMAZING teacher. Not only did she explain coding techniques, but she also shared a wealth of knowledge on what to expect in the real world of coding. She encouraged, motivated and challenged us not to stop at a CPC credential, but to pursue additional credentialing (which I will ONLY do through MCA). I had taken two other coding classes prior to MCA and neither educated me the way Mrs. Ortega and the assigned required pre-work has. Yes, you will have to put in the work, but I’m pleased to report that I PASSED the exam on my second attempt after being only 4 points off on my first attempt. First, Praise be to God and second, Thank You Mrs. Ortega. I’m already preparing to register with MCA for my next certification. If you’re contemplating on whether you should register with MCA, I pray my review will assist you in that decision. Let 2020 be the beginning of something NEW. Again, my sincere thanks to Mrs. Ortega for giving us your “ALL.” May God continue to Bless You!!!!!

None of my University professors compared to Mrs. Ortega. She is filled with so much energy and really has her heart into teaching. She not only helped me prepare for the CPC exam, but she got me really motivated to pursue more credentials. For anyone about to take the CPC exam I HIGHLY suggest you take the prep class. There is so much information you will miss out on if you don't. I get my results tomorrow and I couldn't be more excited for the future. Thank you MCA!

I learned more in those 3 days... read more than I did in the entire 8 months I spent in the online course I was taking. You are given everything you need to be prepared to take AND pass the CPC exam the very first time. She is inspiring, exciting and REALLY knows her stuff. I have been raising kids for the last 19 years and have not been in a learning environment for many, many years so I was not very confident in my abilities to be able to absorb so much information in a short time but decided on day 2 to go ahead and sign up for the exam in 3 weeks because it was all clicking and making sense.
