Medical Coding Forums & YouTube Channels: Choosing the Right One
ATTENTION: you’re on the WRONG YouTube channel and you’re on the WRONG medical coding forum! Why? Let’s discuss.
For starters, if you’re listening to someone on social media who confuses you by unloading their own personal industry challenges and disappointments, I would honestly question that person’s qualifications to lead anybody.
Something I APPARENTLY need to open the eyes of my viewers about is that from this day forward when please be very careful about who you are taking life advice from on social media. One of the most dangerous things we’ve been witnessing is that, because the barrier of entry is so low on YouTube or coding forums—I mean literally anyone can start a channel or open a coding forum—there are tons of people out there who are highly confused and discouraged about pursuing their medical coding or billing careers.
The Qualification Issue
YouTubers are spuing out so much negativity that it’s actually paralyzing the decision-making of way too many viewers. Listen to me, just because someone is a medical coder doesn’t mean they’re now qualified to hand out career advice, much less life advice! Before you take life advice or career advice from someone seen on YouTube or a coding forum, please ask yourself what EXACTLY qualifies them to hand out this advice to anyone. Being a medical coder simply isn’t enough. I mean, for all you know you could be listening to a low-performing medical coder, so please open your eyes.
Why The Confusion?
I’m getting into this right now because all of a sudden there’s just been this influx of people in our email who are confused, unsure and on the fence about pursuing medical coding. Every time we ask about all the confusion, the first thing, they do is mention a video they saw. Videos like “Is medical coding right for me?” or “Is medical coding worth it?”
Okay, the very fact that a YouTuber even titled a video this way tells me they’re not exactly rooting for you to join the rest of or perhaps they just wanted you to click the video. Who knows, but as for the people who clicked into these videos, absolutely some of the viewers were seeking honest career guidance. But the tragedy is that others were just hoping to find more excuses to not do the work it takes to better their lives.
And this is where I come unglued, because instead of the YouTube empowering these people and turn it around for them, they enable them. So, the YouTuber advances in their life but their viewers remain stagnant.
When asked all the confusion, other people expressed nothing about watching a certain channel on YouTube, but instead said they were feeling unsure because of all the negativity on a medical coding forum.
Conclusion
Instead of watching and trusting any video out there, trust a channel or forum with real-life medical coders who have decades of real-world experience. Visit the MCA YouTube Channel or MCA Forum today!
