So if you decide to try this out (and if your in a position like me, you have no reason not to) don’t be scared to take a chance. You have a real opportunity to succeed in this career field. Full disclosure, if you don’t complete the pre work and homework, this board exam will be very hard. It’s literally a coding boot camp up here in Dallas. So be prepared to tear your hair out and and thank Mrs. Ortega for it in the end. A few headaches and short term pain will be worth it for a new career and a long term happiness

She’s very thorough giving you the tools you need to pass the exam, getting the job, interviewing, and your new coding career. During the prep exam workshop she is not the angel you see on youtube. She is this little petite Drill Sergeant who will put the fire under your feet!! The class is very intense, very fast paced, and can be overwhelming if you don’t do ALL of your pre-work. However when the 3 days are over its a big relief because you will be able maneuver through your books, follow instructions, find and understand the correct answers. Her curriculum and teaching strategy makes it fun & easy to find the codes, without needing to MEMORIZE thousands of terminology or anatomy terms. Mrs Ortega was heaven sent! Did I tell you I hate Facebook! Anyway, let me explain to you the character of Mrs. Ortega and how her actions in her Momma Coder programs speak volumes about her.. Towards the beginning of her career as an instructor she noticed the struggles and disappointments of her students not being able to pass their boards. So, it saddened her deeply and she wondered there has to be more she could.do ...well here you have it folks, she has taken so much time out of her life to possibly make things easier for example she has her own book color code tabbing system that alone is work!! She makes coding look easy and pulls all the important information out. And makes understanding easier! She has catchy phrases and ways of helping you remember things . I don’t know very many instructors or people for that matter . That would do all this for strangers.. Her students at which she has never met but cares so very much about!! You are truly the BEST thanks for your patience , positivity and phone calls that pulled me through getting my certificate!

I was very... read more well prepared for the test because I followed Mrs. Ortega's directions to the letter. The days were very long and there were late nights doing homework but if you do the work you too will pass. Medical Coding Academy was a fantastic investment and I plan to take the COC in Dallas this spring. Stop thinking about maybe doing it someday. JUST DO IT! Mrs. Ortega... read more and her staff were very helpful. The course really prepared me for the exam. I took the exam on 9/10/18 and passed. Now I am a Certified Profession Coder. It was a hard weekend, full of long class hours and prep/home work each night after the class ended, but there is a lot of information to cover in just three days, so the home work is necessary. The prep/home work really does help prepare youfor the test. Thanks Mrs. Ortega & staff!
