4 Benefits of Joining a Medical Coding Forum
Technological trends come and go, but if there’s one thing that will always remain the same, it’s our desire for community. Humans were never designed to be alone, which is why groups, forums and other forms of “online gathering places” are so popular these days. This applies to every industry, including medical coding and billing.
Let’s take a look at a few specific benefits of joining a medical coding forum:
1. Support
Arguably one of the biggest reasons to join a medical coding forum is the support you’ll gain. Past, present and future medical coders make up these forums, so you’ll have access to insights, support and accountability from people with different experience levels. Whether you’re studying for an upcoming test, dealing with an important decision at work or need a place to stay updated about changes in the industry, a medical coding forum is great for support. Medical Coding Academy’s forum, for example, is very distinct in that the sophistication, professionalism, positivity and encouragement people get from it is second to none. There is no complaining, no whining, no quitters, no negativity allowed on this forum. That is all you see on other forums!
2. Education
Speaking of staying up to date, a medical coding forum is the perfect place to keep in step with what is happening in the medical coding industry. Want to know about the latest coding updates? Not sure what changed with the latest update to medical coding books like ICD-10-CM, HCPCS and CPT AMA Professional? Your peers are a great source of information and updates. You can also find professional development opportunities here.
The members you find on other medical coding forums get their job as a coder and just sit on it for the rest of their lives. They sit on only one credential, cross their fingers and hope for the best, whereas the go coders forum is composed of members who are a group of overachievers and top performers. It’s an elite community of people who will do whatever it takes to keep increasing their skill set in order to contribute more to the marketplace and rise to the very top because of it.
3. Prospecting
Looking for a job or a prospect? You’re not alone! A medical coding forum is a great resource for both job seekers and employers looking for quality team members. At Medical Coding Academy, we like to regularly post job opportunities we see, as well as tips for updating your resume or nailing your job interview.
4. Networking
Finally, a medical coding forum is just a great place to meet new people in your industry. Medical coding is a fast-growing field with lots of opportunity for both in-person and remote work. When you build up your medical coding contact database, you’ll be in a better position to meet any of your goals. Medical Coding Academy’s forum is home to real-life coders, billers, employers and instructors. Enjoy the best of medical coding networking in one convenient digital place!

I’ve learned so much from medical forums, especially medical coding, billing and credentialing forums. This site is a wonderful examples of where one is able to find quality information on the aforementioned forum types. I’ll admit, we aren’t terribly great with the coding side, we do more billing and credentialing, so the resource is much appreciated. Particularly, I enjoy reading the success stories, it shows you’re making a difference.
