Exploring Your Post-COVID-19 Job Options
It’s no secret that COVID-19 threw a wrench in many of our plans. Graduations changed their format, many of us lost our jobs and those of us who kept our jobs saw them change. And vacation plans? Those are up in the air as well. Today, however, we’ll be focusing specifically on those who lost their job because of the coronavirus.
According to Trading Economics, “the U.S. unemployment rate jumped to 14.7 percent in April 2020, the highest in the history of the series and compared to market expectations of 16 percent, as the COVID-19 crisis threw millions out of work.” If you’re one of the many who lost their job recently, let’s explore some of your options once things settle down.
Option #1: Search for a New Job
When you fall off the horse, what do you do? You get back on it. That can be problematic if there isn’t a horse to get back onto, however. For those in the restaurant, service, retail or other industries, you might not have a job to go back to. If your industry is still intact, you can refresh your resume and start applying for positions. If your industry is in bad shape, it might be time to go back to school or pursue online education.

Going back to school might also be problematic, however. Some universities aren’t reopened yet and some don’t plan on reopening.
