She is VERY passionate and... read more VERY serious about her teaching & her students. Please do all of your pre-work, homework, and classwork or you will not benefit. It is very INTENSE but by day 3 you will be as confident as she is about passing your board exam. I went to college for Medical Coding our... read more professor had a PHD and writes books on coding. My entire classmates including myself graduated with zero confidence to take the state test. Several of us have outsource refresher courses to find the confidence. Not one has passed the state test. I just finished taking this course and am scheduled to take my exam this month. I can honestly say I am confident and comfortable to say I am ready. . Mrs.Ortega prepares you to succeed in your state test. One of my classmates in this course took the exam in Georgia this past Monday and am happy to say she passed. If you like to win and succeed, this is this place to begin. Word of advise pay attention to every word. If you are making the investment take the time to learn. You will get what you put your mind to. If you want to learn; learn this is you opportunity to learn an abundance colleges and universities don't give, but a student loan. Give yourself the opportunity to open doors for yourself. Thank you Mrs. Ortega, Belen and all at the Academy for this great eye opening opportunity. See you guys soon.

  • Hello fellow Coders, future coders and MCA family! I have some great news that I would like to share that might encourage someone that’s reading this post. Before I share... read more the news I have to tell the complete story as to why this is a big deal for me. Many of you know or have read my previous post about my recent success ( taking Mrs. Ortega’s 3 Day CPC prep course and passing the board exam on the 4th day ) through the Medical Coding Academy in January of this year. I had shared a little bit of my story about how I had taken the CPC exam a couple of times ( prior to attending Mrs. Ortega’s 3 Day CPC course ) and failed. What I didn’t say, was that i had already been working as a Medical Coder for roughly a year and a half. When I got hired I was made aware that I must have my coding certification within 1 year of employment or I would loose my job because the organization only wanted individuals that are certified . I was also made aware that once I became certified I would get a promotion. I took on the challenge because I was certain that I could get my certification within 1 year. At that time I was enrolled in a coding program at a local technical college. When I took the CPC exam for the first time and failed I was about 6 months into employment. This happened at the end of the year which meant tests were limited and most test sites were already at capacity. I waited about 3-4 more months before I re-took the CPC exam the second time and failed. At that point the pressure was really weighing heavy on me because I knew that I had to get that certification in order to keep my job and I was rapidly approaching my 1 year of employment/deadline. At my 1 year evaluation I was given an extension on getting my certification. That’s when I sought the Medical Coding Academy. You know the rest of the story but, I honestly feel like MCA was a blessing to me and I am/will be forever grateful the experience and the time/effort that Mrs. Ortega puts into her students. The great news that I want to share with you all is that I recently received my promotion and my supervisor gave me a “ shout out” this week at our morning huddle for my name being listed under the “Magna Cum Laude “ section of this months AAPC magazine ( was going to add the pic that I took of my name in the magazine but I don’t see the option to add an attachment/picture). It was a great feeling to be recognized and well worth the stress and anxiety. Lol.. Sorry, for the extensive post but, I felt like it was necessary and I hope that my story might encourage someone who’s in doubt or feeling discouraged. I also want to mention that I recently registered for the CPMA ( Certified Professional Medical Auditor) through MCA. Wish me luck and stay tuned for another successful story. Be blessed y’all!!

Aside from the abundance of knowledge you will gain from her class, you will also gain priceless information on how to succeed in this fabulous field! Mrs Ortega is very professional, funny, smart and approachable. She means business so you'd better do your pre work and homework done because it is intense but absolutely worth it! If you are truly serious about getting certified, this is the class you need to attend. My husband and I attended her class in San Diego and it was the best bonding moment we've ever had! We are looking forward to attending her other certification courses!! I have all praises for medical coding academy.
