  • I did the 3 day course in Orlando this past weekend and it was life changing. I have had the goal of wanting to be coder for 2 years and... read more currently in the medical field. I have tried classes with the AAPC and that didn't work. Then I did a class online with Penn Foster. It wasn't teaching me what I needed to know. As single mom I was desperate for change and even having experience in the medical field I wanted and need more. I came across a comment in facebook Group from the AAPC how this lady went to MCA. And she accomplished 3 credentials in 6 months. I was like no way. I read Mrs. Oretega reviews and watched her Youtube videos. All of them. I was like there is not one bad comment. I jump out in faith paid for class pack my bags and got to the next class. Which was Orlando Florida on 04/26/19. Mrs. Oretega is the most passionate teacher I have ever met in my entire life being 33 years old. She is straight to the point and she pushed me. She taught me discipline which is hard to do being a single mother and living everyday life. Words can't express how much I am grateful for the 3 day course. I couldn't have made a better sacrifice for my family and I. I know I will pass my CPC exam. This review is not even enough to express my experience. I pray you choose MCA and keep it moving to success. Thank you so much Mrs. Oretega and I pray God gives you what you gave me and more.

Dont, I repeat DONT... read more waste your money elsewhere, especially in a technical school. I unfortunately went before I knew about MCA and now have a debt of $17K and learn nothing. The school never even gave me a HCPCS book until I had my exit exam. What a waste of time and money. But now Im glad I found out about MCA. I have learned so much with Mrs Ortega in 3 days than 10months in the technical school. So if you are thinking about, stop thinking and just to do it. I promise you, you wont regret it!

Is it the BEST investment for your Medical Coding Career? YES! Is it easy to learn even if you have ZERO knowledge about Medical Coding? YES! Will you be 100% prepared for the BOARD Exam? YES! I'm waiting to take the CPC Exam in a few weeks but i am 100% prepared, and feel confident in passing! I am so thankful for Mrs. Ortega, not only for her teachings, but also her passion for helping people and her ability to give people hope and faith! that's why i only recommend MCA for anyone looking into a Medical Coding Career.

Mrs. Ortega teaches with enthusiasm and simplicity to where you understand and get excited about medical coding. I was blown away by how a code can explain so much about a patient. At the end of my 3rd class I knew and UNDERSTOOD what I needed to know about medical coding and most of all I have everything I need to pass my exam. I recommend you sign up and take this 3 day course. You will go from, "what did I get myself into" to "I got this, I can do this". Thank you Mrs. Ortega for lighting a fire in me. Mrs Ortega really did a great job getting all the info across to the huge calss we had. I think you were fair in repeating and explaining extra for people but also was able to KEEP IT MOVIN! I took my exam today and feel good about it. I finished before time was called thankfully! Mrs Ortega i am not sure how you do it but THANK YOU for the hard work to help me succeed!

  • I had been looking into medical coding for the last year. I had narrowed the decision down to online courses with either the AAPC or AHIMA. Soon after... read more I became even more indecisive after researching both organizations due to mixed reviews. Then in March I came across one of Ms. Ortega's YouTube videos. After watching the first video, she had me hook, line and sinker!!!! This woman is truly a God Send!! Like everyone now reading these reviews, I thought this is crazy amazing!! OMG this is just too good to be true! How am going to become this Go To medical coder in only three days??? Please believe me when I say, it is truly possible. This is the real deal! During the months following up to the three day course, I had watched all of Ms. Ortega's videos....more than once...and took notes. The course only costs $1280 and MCA works with you in regards to a payment plan. After registering for the CPC course, MCA mails their students pre-work. The pre-work will take roughly 20 to 25 hours to complete and it is truly essential when taking the course. I attended the course in Dallas, TX at the end of July. We had about 95 students attending the class. One student had even flown all the way from Hawaii just to attend! I'm not going to lie, the course is intense but you will learn a vast amount of information in only three days. Ms. Ortega and her MCA staff are truly amazing!!!!!!!!! She is an explosive powerhouse of coding knowledge and breaks everything down for you by having you work from the ground up. I can not stress enough how important it is to complete both the pre-work and homework. The completion of this work can either make you or break you on the board exam. Ms. Ortega also gives you interviewing tips along with helpful real world practice scenarios that will benefit you after you pass the exam. Now with the Dallas course, students are given an option of taking the board exam on the fourth day. I was one of those students who chose to take the exam on the fourth day. Unfortunately I did not pass the first time. It had absolutely nothing to do with Ms. Ortega and her classroom instruction. From what I've heard many students pass on the first try. Unfortunately I was not one of those students. I felt pretty good coming out of the exam room and thought I had at least passed with a 70 but to my dismay I missed it by three points. Three points!!!! You know what though....It's okay. AAPC offers one free retake!!! Thank you God!! After I found out the horrible news, I texted Ms. Ortega. She was extremely understanding and suggested I retake the exam within the month. For the next three weeks, I studied at least one hour everyday. I took the retake exam and a week later found out I PASSED!!!!!!! I'm still elated from the news and can't wait to continue on with my medical coding career!! So in conclusion if you feel beyond confident with taking the board exam on the fourth day then I say go for it but if you're someone who may need more time to study, I would suggest delaying the exam for a couple of weeks. The course offered a no non-sense approach of systematically approaching the CPC... read more exam. The presentation delivers information that allows you to feel more confident in taking the exam. The instructor also linked CPT, ICD-10CM, and HCPCS in a cohesive format to better prepare your approach in taking the exam since time is of the essence and there is a lot to read. In the past, I have had many questions about medical coding and each training day resolved many of my past questions. The organization cares about your test outcome and your personal, professional success. The three days are intense but worth your time. Not only do I recommend everyone to take this course but if you really want to be certified DO NOT THINK TWICE. You will be glad you did it. By the way, I did not get pay for my opinion, nor am I related to anyone in the organization. I am just a student who took the course and wish somebody would have told me about Medical Coding Academy sooner.
