  • For the last 10 years I have been a stay at home mom and I'm so blessed to be able to do that. Last summer I was told about a... read more lady who travelled the country and taught medical coding in a weekend. I thought if something is medically related, how can it be taught in a weekend? I hemmed and hawed about it and decided to try it. I had no medical background other than personal and familial experience. She and her wonderful staff sent me a packet and to be completely honest, I was a little overwhelmed by the amount of information that they expect you to have completed before you even get there. Acting on faith I completed every thing and made the drive to Dallas for her class. It was intense to say the least! Mrs. Ortega is one of the most amazing women I have ever met. Due to unforseen circumstances, I was unable to test before the end of the year when guidelines changed. Months later I decided to try again and I'm so glad that I did. Mrs. Ortega is one of those people you just have to like. She's so talented and giving. She really cares for each and every one of us that comes her way. If you don't understand something she will sit there and explain it till you get it. She's not one of those people who are just in it for the money. This is a very lucrative market and she's the best at making sure you get in it! She really goes above and beyond what most teachers are willing to do to make sure you get the best experience. I cannot stress enough: DO THE PREWORK!!! Expect 2 hours of homework. DO THE HOMEWORK!!! It WILL be worth it! Thank you Mrs. Ortega for doing what you do and for being the person you are. You are truly unique in a world of monotony. I can't wait to come back and take the next course!

She shared a wealth of information and she presented it in such a way that it was easy to comprehend. I am excited to take the CPC exam this Saturday. If you are on the debating about her class, let me set your mind at ease.   • I just finished this course in Minnesota and it was the most intense but best thing I've ever done for myself! Mrs. Ortega is both the sweetest and toughest teacher... read more you'll ever have. Tough with good reason: She just wants to see you succeed. With that being said, I will give you a few tips: MAKE SURE ALL OF THE PREWORK IS DONE. No questions about it; no ifs, ands, or buts!!! And don't start it the night before. I'd recommend starting at least a week or two before. Also, be prepared to dedicate the entire weekend (even after class hours) to completing homework. So, you may want to take the day after off as well. Mrs. Ortega truly has a wealth of knowledge about the industry and will do WHATEVER she can to see you succeed, so much so in a way I have never seen from any other teachers I've had. Definitely recommend!

  • I attended this three day class in Dallas. What an intense three days it was. I learn things there I would not have learned anywhere else. I have taken other... read more medical coding online classes that left me feeling totally unprepared to take the exam. After this three day class I feel very confident in my ability to do well on the exam. Mrs. Ortega has thought of everything! She gives us customized homework/practice to do until we take the exam, after the exam and the night before starting our first job to keep us fresh. Mrs. Ortega even gives guidance for the interview and I highly recommend purchasing her USB stick with resume templates letters of interest etc. This class was definitely worth every single penny it cost and I would recommend it to everyone wishing to become a medical coder. Don’t waste your time and money anywhere else.
